The TL-39 simulator of the "Full mission" category is designed to support individual training of Aero L-39 aircraft pilots. TL-39 enables full day and night simulation beyond all weather conditions in the full range of the real aircraft flight envelope. The simulator is ready to operate in a tactical training mode using DIS/HLA protocols.

Training focus:

Training is focused on training and practicing of both standard and emergency procedures on the ground and in flight, including the practice of using the navigation, radio communication and weapon systems.

Training options:

Individual training

basic VFR training (Visual Flight Rules)

advanced VFR training

basic and advance IFR training (Instrument Flight Rules)

training in combat use

training of the emergency procedures and non-standard situations

Tactics training

mode of training in cooperation with other units (wing, flight, squadron) or a battle group

Developed skills:

practising of flight procedures

managing of the on-board systems

practising of the navigation flights

utilization of the weapon and navigation systems

Fidelity - specific simulation of all on-board systems

Advanced tools for pre-flight preparation and after-action briefing

Variability - available for all main types of L-39 C/ZA/ZO series

The simulator cockpit is an exact copy of the actual aircraft. The cockpit is based on a vibration platform. All cockpit equipment are either original or exact fully functional copies. The cockpit is connected by cables to Instructor Operating Station (IOS) and to the visual, audio and computing systems.

Content:

Pilot workplace (simulator cabin)

the cockpit is an exact copy of the actual Aero L-39 aircraft cockpit, all instruments, controls and displays are either original or fully functional copies. The stick and pedals are equipped with a electronic control load system ensuring that forces very similar to the actual aircraft in a whole flight envelope. The cabin is placed on vibration platform that simulates vibrations caused by stalls, taxing and gun firing.

Instructor Operating Station (IOS)

IOS manages the TL-39 simulator control, i.e. switch-on, switch-off, diagnostics and setting of the exercise parameters. IOS enables to pause and restart simulation during a training task. IOS is located behind the pilot cabin - such solution enables instructor to partially watch the pilot activity directly on the projection screen.

Computing system

the computing system of the TL-39 simulator consist of standard PCs and other off-the shelf hardware. It consists of these computing units:

HOST control unit

KABIN PC - a cabin control unit computer

MAP control unit

IG1 visual unit

IG2 visual unit

IG3 visual unit

Visual system consists of:

projection system - three-channel system with 3DPerception SX25+ projectors

cylindrical projection screen, with field of view 180 degrees horizontally and 60 degrees vertically

Audio system (simulation of sounds and communication)

Sound output of the simulator is realized by simulation audio system, that reproduces all sounds including radio communication in a digital form by means of DIS protocol. Simulator uses these basic sound categories:

external sounds - surround sound of the aircraft and nearby objects

internal sounds - cabin noise and device sound signals

communication:

transfer of a sound signal between an instructor and a pilot

communication with another pilot (simulator)

monitoring of radio on specific frequency

Software

modular software consist of following main components:

synthetic environment

aerodynamic model

propulsion model

aircraft systems model

navigation system model

weapon systems model

CGF model

DIS and HLA interface

Workplaces equipment

Pilot workplace (simulator cabin)

cabin software

cabin hardware

cabin skeleton including pilot’s seat

cockpit instruments and controls

vibration system of the cabin

aircraft control simulation system

cabin ventilation system

cabin audio system

Instructor Operating Station (IOS)

IOS is equipped with tools supporting a training task preparation, monitoring and evaluation

it consists of:

2 touch screens to display actual state of the simulation system and enabling the instructor to participate in simulation

control monitor - parameter set-up and task management

simulation monitor - monitoring the actual status of trainee cabin devices and the situation on the 2D map display

HP DeskJet printer

Support of standards:

HLA (IEEE 1516) protocol

DIS (IEEE 1278) protocol
