SAS Mi-171Sh – Mi-171 modernized helicopter avionics systems simulator

VR Group is introducing a new product targeted for the Mi-171Sh flight personnel training. This product is installed in the CLV in Pardubice.
The simulator of avionics systems is designed for the flight and ground operation procedures training. In particular, operation, control, and effective utilization of the on-board systems of modernized Mi-171Sh, with emphasis on the FMS system control, and use of the map displays during a mission preparation, mission planning and a flight task accomplishment.
The simulator cockpit is designed with a respect to the dimensions and proportions of the real helicopter. All the controls and instruments are simulated via touch-screens with the same ergonomic layout as in the actual helicopter.
Integration of the original FMS CMA-9000 and EuroNav RN6 map generator is the main advantage of the SAS Mi-171Sh. This solution allows very efficient helicopter flight personnel retraining without the risk of acquiring bad operation habits.

Mi-2 Simulator

VR Group is introducing a new product targeted for the Mi-2 helicopter pilot training. This product is installed in the CLV in Pardubice.
The Mi-2 helicopter simulator is designed for the flight and ground, operation procedures training (both normal and emergency) of the flight personnel. The simulator is focused primarily on the helicopter avionics systems control, utilization, and operation training.
All the controls and instruments are simulated via touch-screens with the same ergonomic layout as in the actual helicopter. The helicopter flight controls – the cyclic control, the collective lever, and the anti-torque pedals – are adapted from the actual helicopter parts and equipped with a spring control load mechanism.
The main advantage of the simulator is the ability to provide safe training and evaluation of the normal and emergency procedures without using of real helicopter. The training and evaluation can be done under, or without, the supervision of an instructor.

IDET 2009

As in previous years, the company has traditionally participated on the 10th year of the IDET 2009 international trade fair (5th - 7th May 2009). The company participated among a total of 575 exhibitors from 34 countries.
The exhibition booth was designed with an emphasis on demonstration of the Modular Tactics Training System (MTTS), focused on current most necessary types of operations - operations in urban terrain and safe-conduct convoy operations.
Major part of our booth showed Reconfigurable Virtual Simulators together with Team Leader Simulator (RVS/TLS), linked with OTB, OOS, and WASP. As a innovation of this year, completely new live simulation system prototype - STING - was introduced.
In the accompanying program of the IDET 2009, the experts of the company have participated with their speeches in these Cate 2009 conferences:
  • Military Technologies 2009 (Air Force)
  • Distance education, simulation and communication 2009
  • Tactics 2009
  • Users within integrated NEC environment
VR Group enjoyed great success on IDET 2009 and is looking forward for future IDET 2011.

New generation tactical laser system STING

VR Group, a.s. company offers a new generation tactical laser system STING. This system helps military units to prepare for combat and non-combat operations and to improve their tactical behaviour and thinking.
STING consists of a soldier's personal set, a control station called STING-CLS (Centre of the Live Simulation) and an extension set of technical and service tools. The soldier's personal set is composed of an electronic vest STING-BODY, an electronic helmet slip STING-HEAD and a laser transmitter STING-SAT.
STING key benefits are original solution using up-to-date technologies, applicability to all types of hand weapons, shooting training, interoperability with other similar systems, connectivity with constructive simulation systems using DIS protocol (OTB 2.5), applicability to tactical training and to training in urban areas (MOUT) and easy instrumentation of the training area by means of wireless data networks.

VR Group starts offering new CTDB and OTF services

The company VR Group, a.s. starts offering a new service of producing terrain databases in formats CTDB and OTF 6.0 for OTB and OneSAF 1.5 and 2.0 simulation systems. This service is based on VR Group, a.s. self developed software tools used for producing and generating the terrain databases.
Required input data are 3D terrain database in any format, vector data like roads, buildings, rivers in any format and material attributes for OTF in SEDRIS standard.
Produced terrain databases are verified and validated to prevent possible errors. These tools enable various kinds of tests like geometry control, generic terrain settings and values of material attributes.

I/ITSEC 2008

Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation & Education Conference (I/ITSEC) took place from 1st - 4th December 2008 in Orlando, Florida, United States. It was the meeting spot for many companies interested in the field of modelling and simulations. During the 4 days exhibition visitors could see products and solutions from many industry leaders.
VR Group was invited to this exhibition by one of our partners - the MetaVR software development company which is primary focused on the visualization of the real-time 3D scenes. The I/ITSEC exhibition was a great opportunity for our company to introduce the Modular Tactics Training System (MTTS) together with the MetaVR products in the MetaVR booth.
The MTTS, which includes the Reconfigurable Virtual Simulators (RVS), Team Leader Simulators (TLS) and also our company´s currently under-development product the WASP,
is supported by the power and game quality graphics of MetaVR' s Virtual Reality Scene Generator™ (VRSG™).
The RVS, TLS and WASP were displayed in I/ITSEC in 3 possible scenarios. The first scenario demonstrated convoy training in Afghanistan village, next one showed Mi-helicopter tactics training and the third scenario demonstrated the Forward Air Controller (FAC). All these scenarios were focused on current operations.

A new digital terrain database of Afghanistan

VR Group has developed new terrain database of Lógar province of Afghanistan. This database will be used for collective training of the Czech Armed forces.
The size of the database is 68x60 km. This database is used together with VR Group collective training solutions that help units and idividual soldiers prepare for current operations. The terrain database has been prepared in specific OpenFlight and MetaVR MDX formats. Other specific formats are CTDB and OTF intended for OTB and OOS simulation systems.
Lógar wit its capital Pul-i-Alam is situated in a central zone, south-east from Kabul. In the Lógar province the czech province reconstruction team (PRT) is currently operating.
The Czech Topographic institute (VGHMUr) Dobruska has recently provided the geographical data necessary for this database. The data belong to the Multinational Geospatial Co-production Program (MGCP), which is the global project focused on the collection of the vector data. The data corresponding with the map 1:50 000 are collected from the crisis areas from all over the world.

International Air and Military Show 2008

Annual interesting airshow in Hungary - Kecskemét took place between 16th - 17th of August 2008. Release of new configurations of Reconfigurable Virtual Simulators (RVS)

Czech Army has been carrying out collective tactics training of small units and vehicle commanders on Reconfigurable Virtual Simulators (RVS) since 2000. RVS can be also used for role playing of friendly forces, enemy forces and other participants.
Key benefit of this product is possibility of swift reconfiguration of the simulator to various types of vehicles - like Tanks, Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFV), Armoured Personal Carriers (APC), Multi- Role Light Vehicles (MLV), Aircrafts / Helicopters, Forward Artillery Observer etc.
New configurations of RVS Simulator have been released recently. RVS simulator can be reconfigurated to combat vehicles (e.g. Land Rover), rotary wing aircrafts, forward observer posts, forward air controller posts (FAC), Light Reconnaissance and Observation System (LOS) and other vehicles or personals according to customer requirements.
One of fundamental feature of RVS simulators is their DIS compatibility therefore it is possible to interconnect them with a DIS compatible constructive simulation system so that a complex battle scenarios including friendly and enemy forces could be created according to training needs.
